Thompson Center quality

Heya,

Looking for my first hunting rifle and on a pretty limited budget. I’ve decided I want a .308 and I want to get a package deal (rifle + scope) for now until I have enough experience to justify spending money on customizing – right now I don’t know what I’d even really want, so I figure a combo is the way to go.

Thought I had decided on a Savage Axis, but then I found the Thompson Center Compass and it seems like a decent rifle for the money. Just a bit heavier.

Anyone have experience and can help guide me?
