The Jacksonville, Florida native was raised living the Salt Life. “My life has always revolved around the ocean. I grew up fishing, surfing and diving, as well as working as a charter captain for many years,” says Captain Don. “I am blessed to be able to share my experiences with the next generation every day.”
“Hook The Future” offers a world-class fishing experience for up-and-coming anglers who join Captain Don on once-in-a-lifetime expeditions. The kids battle drag-screaming king mackerel, hard-pulling Goliath grouper, high-flying pacific tails, blackfin tuna and yellowfin tuna. The viewer will be able to cheer on the kids as they reel them in.
Captain Don travels to one-of-a-kind destinations in season 18. He adventures to Nosara in Costa Rica where guests of the show live out their fishing dreams landing billfish all day. He also travels to the Hawks Cay Resort in the middle of the beautiful Florida Keys where the kids catch every tasty fish the reefs have to offer.
The ultimate purpose of the show is to instill the values of being a good steward of the environment while building confidence, skills and friendships along the way.
“We love what Captain Don is doing for today’s youth with this popular show and beyond. It has been a pleasure to have him as a longstanding Salt Life team member,” says Salt Life President Jeff Stillwell. “We can all learn something from his techniques, but more importantly his passion for educating the future leaders and having a lot of fun while doing so.”

About Captain Don
Captain Don Dingman is a long-time Charter Captain and Jacksonville, Florida native. He has fished all over the world, catching all types of species in the most exotic locations on earth. While he loves the thrill of adventure, his true passion is creating lifelong memories for the next generation of anglers. In 2003, Don launched “Hook the Future TV” which he hosts to this day, taking kids fishing all over the world. Additionally, Don hosts Hook the Future Kids Fishing Clinics at major boat shows and events across the Southeast. There he teaches kids the fundamentals of fishing, and sends them home with a rod, reel and the tools they need to be successful. According to Don, “It doesn’t matter how old you are, we all feel like a kid when a big fish is on. Kids can catch anything adults can, the fish doesn’t know who’s holding the rod!”
