Since 2009, September 11 is recognized as a National Day of Service and Remembrance. On this day Americans across the country volunteer in tribute to those lost and injured in the September 11, 2001 attacks, first responders, and the many who have since risen in service.
In honor of this year’s National Day of Service and Remembrance, TU chapters and individual members are encouraged to contact local first responders and members of the military community to introduce them to Trout Unlimited through the TU Service Partnership. Every community across America has service-oriented leaders who can benefit from our approach – and through whom Trout Unlimited can better protect, reconnect, restore, and sustain healthy waterways throughout America.
As part of this outreach, the TU Service Partnership is pleased to extend to members of the medical, fire service, and law enforcement communities the same 1-year free membership to Trout Unlimited that we offer our military veterans. This includes a full year of TROUT Magazine, local chapter activities like fly-fishing lessons, discounts on travel and fishing gear, opportunities to win trips, prizes and more!
Please feel free to use this Promotional Flyer for any hard copy invitations you wish to distribute or link directly to the Free Introductory Membership for Military and First Responders. Volunteers who have stopped by their local fire station, EMS squad, or police station – while observing appropriate health and safety precautions – have been universally welcomed and thanked for their outreach! Let’s continue to build on that momentum and build lasting community relationships that reach thousands more!
Your chapter or council may also decide to use this time to start developing plans to host a special event for next year. There are countless opportunities to collaborate and cultivate meaningful service opportunities in honor of this National Day of Service and Remembrance. Please share your recognition ideas with the TU Online Community in the Open Forum or Leaders Forum.
